The responsibilities of social workers, case managers, and community services personnel in managing, organizing, and/or providing person-centered services to people, groups, and communities are reflected in this certification.

Employees at this level are skilled in providing community services and operate independently while receiving general guidance from upper management. Employees may also be in charge of case management, program coordination, new business development, and/or the supervision of volunteers and other employees.

Entry Requirements:

For this course, there are no official admission criteria.

To assess their eligibility for admission, all applicants must complete the following:

  • finish the Pre-training Review (PTR); and
  • a Literacy and Numeracy testing must be conducted

Course Structure

Total Units of Competency:

The CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services , requires the completion of the following 20 units (including 12 core and 8 electives).


Pre-requisites

There are no pre-requisites for this qualification.


Placement Arrangements

This course requires students to complete a minimum of 200 hours of work placement. Students are required to find their own practical placement, however, Angel Institute will provide assistance and support where needed. Placement will be completed under the supervision of the centre’s supervisor. Work placement assessment task needs to be completed for each unit which has a placement component.

Training Arrangements

AIE ensures that you have a mixture of practical and theoretical components, and those classes cater for a wide variety of learning styles. Additionally, workplace practices and environments will be regularly simulated and used to conduct skills-based assessments in accordance with unit requirements. Homework tasks may include research, readings from related textbooks and continuing to work on assessment tasks.

Entry Requirements

  • Prospective students are must be at least 18 years of age.
  • To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Angel Institute will conduct a Pre-Training Review.
  • Required to complete the Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment, administered by and to the satisfaction of Angel Institute.
