CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support

Under the direction of a teacher or other educational professional, workers who enhance student learning and assist teachers in a variety of classroom settings are reflected in this certificate. Workers may be involved in learning facilitation for a variety of instructional groups at this level, including for students who require extra support. These positions involve the education support worker gathering and analyzing data from many sources, working with little direct supervision, and maybe advising other employees.

According to State/Territory law, education support personnel primarily assist pupils in elementary or secondary school classroom settings.

The Assessment Requirements of units of competency specify that to be eligible for this qualification, the candidate must have worked in a primary or secondary school classroom for a minimum of 100 hours at least in one Australian school. All competency units that incorporate the requirement for workplace hours may use the total number of hours as a whole.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants for admission must be at least eighteen years old.

Inspire and Learn will perform a Pre-Training Review to help potential students decide if a course is acceptable and fit for their particular needs. This review is necessary to finish the Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) exam, which will be administered by Inspire and Learn and completed to their satisfaction.

Placement Arrangements

This course requires students to complete a minimum of 100 hours of work placement. Students are required to find their practical placement, however, Angel Institute will provide assistance and support where needed. Placement will be completed under the supervision of the center’s supervisor. Work placement assessment task needs to be completed for each unit that a placement component.

Training Arrangements

Class sessions are planned once a week to ensure that you have a mixture of practical and theoretical components and those classes cater to a wide variety of learning styles. Additionally, workplace practices and environments will be regularly simulated and used to conduct skills-based assessments in accordance with unit requirements.

Homework tasks may include research, readings from related textbooks, and continuing to work on assessment tasks.

Assessment Arrangements

Assessment will be conducted individually. You will be provided with a Student Assessment Booklet for each unit of competency/cluster/topic which includes:

  • A full description of all assessment tasks for the unit of competency
  • Assessment instructions for each unit of competency
  • Assessment resources for each unit of competency
  • Details about when the assessment will occur

Entry Requirements

  • Prospective students must be at least 18 years of age
  • To assist prospective students to in determining whether a course is suitable and appropriate for their individual needs, Angel Institute will conduct a Pre-Training Review
  • Required to complete the Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment, administered by and to the satisfaction of Angel Institute
